Plunkett's work in 2016 Plunkett Foundation has produced an infographic, detailing our work and achievements reached across 2016. As well as seeing a large volume of new members join the Plunkett Community Co-operative Network (PCCN) programme, we have also been able to have an impact on the lives of 54,000 vulnerable people who now benefit from a community co-operative: Volunteering We are pleased to announce that 8,500 volunteers are currently working in community co-operatives. Volunteering is a vital part of the community co-operative network as they are responsible for the day-to-day running and sustainability of the community co-operative model. For further information on volunteering please download our Information, Advice and Support for Community Co-operatives leaflet. Membership We have always been very proud of the Community Co-operative Membership we provide. With 89 new members joining Plunkett in 2016, this shows that more and more members of community co-operatives are hearing about the excellent benefits they can receive once they sign up. We believe it is really important for our members to get together and share ideas. We have recently set up 2 Facebook Networking Groups where members of community shops and co-operative pubs can chat to each other, ask questions and share information. For further details on the groups and how to join, please visit the Join our online network page. To find out more about the benefits our members receive and how to join please visit the Become a member page. Inspire With 359 community groups being inspired by the idea of community ownership, we feel this is a great thing to shout about as it means there are more groups joining our potential list of community co-operatives! Our inspire work has included running events at community co-operatives, in an effort to engage groups who are looking at the idea of setting up their own. With lots more activities planned this year to inspire, we are only hoping that this figure keeps on growing and we see many more successful community co-operatives in the future. If you would like to find out more about the community ownership model, please visit our First Steps page which will guide you through the basics. New openings The process from start to finish to completing as a community co-operative can vary on each project. Therefore, opening on average over 1 new community co-operative a month is a great step forwards and shows that the interest in establishing a community-owned organisation is on the rise. Our excellent Frontline support team is part of this journey, and we would like to thank them for all their hard work in 2016. From answering initial enquiries to allocating support to groups, they are there to help you every step of the way.
