Networking at Frensham Community Shop Frensham Community Shop understands the importance of face to face networking and the value of community co-operatives getting together to exchange ideas. In fact, they believe in the value of networking so much so that they have put their hands up to host one of the first Plunkett member networking meetings in 2017. Mayonne Coldicott, shop committee member, got in touch with us to say that she had spoken with the shop team and they would be delighted to welcome other community co-operative groups to visit Frensham to meet the team and to find out more about how they run their community shop. Mayonne says: "We realised that as well as giving something back to the community co-operative network, there was also plenty in it for the shop itself! As well as welcoming extra people into the shop and perhaps generating a few more sales on the day, it is an opportunity to learn from others' experiences, identify successful local products and we'd be making contact with other regional community groups which will be so useful in so many ways. We anticipate that the networking and knowledge exchanges will continue well beyond the actual meeting itself!" Frensham village has a convenient meeting space close by to the shop to accommodate up to 25 Plunkett members and community groups exploring the community co-operative model, and some of the shop team will be in attendance to greet and network with visitors on the day. Mayonne also plans on providing a few samples of local cake to welcome attendees and get the networking off to a good start! The meeting itself will be a morning event and will be a few hours long. Within this time, attendees will receive expert advice on running a community co-operative, and most importantly will have plenty of time to ask questions and share the experiences of their own community co-operative or group. The meeting will welcome community co-operative groups at every stage of setting up or running a community co-operative. If you are located in or around Surrey please do join us and you can book your place here - https://membersmeetingsurrey0417.eventbrite.co.uk The Frensham shop group will receive a hosting fee to cover all direct costs as well as a contribution to their time, and a Plunkett facilitator will be there on the day to chair the meeting, allowing the host team to concentrate on talking shop! The Plunkett Foundation team would be delighted to hear from you if you are a community co-operative interested in holding a Members’ Meeting this year.
