Everyone is welcome to join us in Beckley for this relaxed and informal session which will offer an opportunity to meet members of other local community businesses, exchange ideas and network.

We'll be joined by a Dementia Friends Champion and will look at both what it is like to live with dementia as well as looking at ways that we can work together as communities to make our businesses and community networks welcoming to those affected by dementia. We know of some great initiatives already taking place from social events such as coffee mornings and craft session. We'll swap ideas together and talk through the benefits these additional activities can bring and how they can enhance the wellbeing of your community.

Our hosts for this session will be the friendly team from Beckley Area Community Benefit Society who will share the story of how they saved their pub. You'll have a chance to meet members of their committee and team and we'll also visit The Abingdon Arms, the fantastic community-owned pub which the team rallied together to save along with the support of an army of local volunteers.

Welcome teas and coffees will be served on arrival and lunch will be provided at the village hall before we visit the pub which is a short walk away. Car parking is available at both the hall and the pub.

The event is FREE for Plunkett members, or just £8 per person for non-members, and is open to all community co-operative models; whether you're a shop, pub, woodland or any other co-operative enterprise you'll receive a warm welcome.

The event is taking place as part of the Rural Community Co-operatives project and is funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation. To find out more about the project please visit www.plunkett.co.uk/rural-community-co-operatives.
