Rural Community Enterprises

Plunkett promotes and develops support for rural communities to develop a wide range of other forms of rural social and community enterprises to help rural communities through community-ownership to take control of the issues affecting them.  Examples include co-operative pubs, community transport schemes, community broadband projects and a whole range of enterprise ideas. Plunkett undertakes various research projects in these areas. Plunkett is the lead partner on the Big Lottery Fund's Village SOS project which offers practical advice via a dedicated advice line, specialist support from expert organisations including Co-operatives UK, Locality and ACRE; an online community forum and website featuring a range of resources and a series of information sharing events.
