The shop's return after almost 1 year's closure has been greeted with great enthusiasm in Stokeinteignhead and surrounding villages. It is much appreciated as a convenience/back-up store with its most popular lines being newspapers & magazines, dairy produce and bakery items. We obtain local produce where viable, with a good trade in locally made bread & cakes, bacon & cooked meats, as well as locally grown vegetables. The first month's business has been very encouraging having achieved a turnover which has already reached the projection for the sixth month. However, we are looking at ways to increase business. In particular, we do need to attract more volunteer staff to enable the shop to open for longer hours.
