Social enterprises and co-operatives shortlisted for Observer Ethical Awards
After a hotly contested debate the shortlist for The 2010 Observer Ethical awards has been announced. Now in their fifth year the awards pay tribute to those that have an innovative way of looking at ethical issues and those who create practical solutions to these problems. Infinity Foods Shop and Bakery, a worker co-op based in Brighton have been shortlisted for the Best Local Retailer award. Also nominated for this award is Growing Communities, a social enterprise based in Hackney, East London, which set up and runs London’s first veg box scheme. They also run a weekly farmers market and have set up Urban Market Gardens to grow organic vegetables for Hackney residents.
