Urchfont is a 2009 Green Community Hero 2009!
We are delighted to hear that Urchfont in Wiltshire has been awarded a Green Community Prize for their committment to promoting evinomentally sustainable projects within their community. Urchfont is clearly very community minded, with a dedicated group - Urchfont Climate Friendly Community Group -
to raise awareness of environmental issues and implement actions to reduce local waste and promote sustainable energy usage.
They are currently undertaking a feasibility study to see if it can generate energy from a stream in nearby woods. Also boasting a community-owned shop, with a biomass heating system makes them an inspirational example!
