Since its beginning the Plunkett Foundation has been an international source of materials and information on co-operatives and rural group enterprise, particularly in agriculture. During its 80-year history the Foundation has assembled a wealth of documentation on all kinds of co-operatives from around the world. This information now comprises by far the most extensive English-language collection on these subjects in the UK, and possibly worldwide. Year by year the resource grows with the addition of new materials, including Plunketts own publications and research work. Information is available to users by personal visits to the Plunkett Library and Information Centre, by electronic communication, or directly in the form of publications, newsletters and book sales.

Publications
The Plunkett Foundation's Directory and Statistics of Agricultural Co-operatives and Directory and Statistics of Farmer-controlled businesses in the UK is now available online. Amendments to entries are posted immediately to the site, resulting in a permanently up-to-date Directory. An excellent research and reference resource for any business involved in the rural sector, the Directory contains a wealth of information on over 500 agricultural, horticultural and fishery co-operatives in the UK. The statistics provide an authoritative status report on trading activity in the farmer-controlled business sector, and place that sector in the context of the agricultural industry as a whole. The online service is free to Plunkett Members and to co-operatives with Directory entries. Non-members will be provided with password access for a nominal annual charge. For further information, contact Karen Ewart.
